Getting a 500 error
« on: December 15, 2011, 02:45:17 PM »
Hello all! :D
I was trying to install the Topic Solved mod on my SMF forum, but since them I'm getting an internal server error the whole time. When I'm removing all files it doesn't give me the error anymore, but when only adding a new index.php I'm getting it again. I'm even getting it on my main site. =/ Any thoughts?

Regards,
Tah Zonemaster

the highest your permission can be is 755 not 775 or 777, one of your files or folders is set to 775 or 777.

Yush, they're all below 775, I set some of them to 755 but some are still 644. It worked fine before though

They should all be below 755, but I can't chmod the "www" directory. It says it chmods it, while it doesn't.

Every directory and file should now be 755, but it still doesn't work. There is no .htaccess directory either. In the forum directory, there aren't any files, except the attachment directory, but that one doesn't show up in the directory listing.

The permissions are all set correctly, your forum files are missing.

I know, I removed them because I thought it was a problems with the files themselves. I'm getting a forbidden error in my forum directory, while I am still getting a 500 error in the home directory =/

Yoshi and I found the problem (Thanks Yoshi :D). The ownership isn't correct, I cannot go into the /community directory. Some are at 549 544, while some are 549 99. I don't know how to fix it though

As far as I looked, the option to reset ownership is gone from the cPanel.
Maybe you should marry that thing since you love it so much. Do you want to marry it? WELL I WON'T LET YOU! How does that feel?
That thing is probably some sort of raw sewage container. Go ahead and rub your face all over it.

All the files are owned by the right username, I'll chown them again if you like.

Hmm, how weird is that... Let me think about another solution for a while.

Are there any .htaccess files on your site?

If so, temporarily get rid of them to see if that's the problem.

I was thinking of removing my hosting account and creating a new one, perhaps that will reset everything and maybe I can access my site again after creating a new account. Thoughts?

We can do that if you like for sure. I have to step out for a cold ride to the next town but PM me your details and I will get to it when I get home unless Nesa sees this..
