You can make your PC run slow if you give the VM too much ram.

Well after reading up on a lot of distributions from here:

I think I will play it safe and load the laptop with Ubuntu. This may not be the best choice for my business but it is familiar. So with that said, I go to get ubuntu. :)

So, I have the latest ubuntu version installed. I must say. I am impressed. They have come along way since I last played with it. I couldn't understand why it was so slow at first but then after a bit of investigation I saw it was downloading updates and backing up the system. Which was great. I have all the business software on there I need so far and all of it was free. All drivers where installed and work except for graphics, not sure that makes a big difference though. All in all I am satisfied so far. We will see what happens when I take it on the road on battery power. :)

If it takes optimal use of your graphics card you will be even more impressed ;)
Maybe you should marry that thing since you love it so much. Do you want to marry it? WELL I WON'T LET YOU! How does that feel?
That thing is probably some sort of raw sewage container. Go ahead and rub your face all over it.

So, Ubuntu was running a bit slow. I went out and bought another 512 mb or ram for the laptop and now it runs like it should. Nice and fast. So far I have transferred 95% of all of our business files onto it. I am using a program called Kontact for this and it seems to have all I need really. So far I am happy with my choice to use Linux.

Isn't Kontact for KDE? Does it run well on GNOME?

It runs great for me. I am running the latest Ubuntu Linux 11.10 or something I think it is. I don't know much about gnome or KDE or how that differs from what I am running but I am running it. :)

By default Ubuntu uses GNOME. Kubuntu uses KDE.
