So here is a project for the community to get involved in. Seeing as my daughter just got her own computer and i can have my laptop back. I have decided to turn my laptop to linux and use it as a business computer. So I need to know if there is a database type software out there for linux that will allow me to list my customers, their addresses and notes on them along with phone numbers. I can convert my laptop right now to linux so if you need specs on my laptop for linux just ask. I also need to be able to have a roaming network so to speak. So I can conect on the go. If that makes sense.

You want a spread sheet program like excel? Open office has something like that.
Try one of the big distributions like Fedora, Suse, Mandrake and the Ubuntu flavours.

Which one do you suggest. Must be user friendly as my business partner will be using it to. He knows less about linux then I do, lol. There's a challenge for ya.
Never used excel...well I have but not to the extent that I need to right now. Open Office i have though.

The ubuntu I just installed seems fairly easy to navigate and use (basically)...
It also comes with "Libre Office", a clone of Open Office & Microsoft Office...

I suggest you try all the distrabutions and see the one he thinks is easier to use. They are all user friendly, its upto him to see the one that he likes the best.
Maybe get virtulbox and install all the distros and get him to play with them.

When installing virtual box should I install all features, like the networking or host networking and such.

K, so I got that installed and working. Now my only question is this. I have to have the operating system I want to install in order to use it right.

yeah its just a virtual PC, you need the CDs or DVDs to install the software.
You might be able to get images for some distributions.
