Databse Help?
« on: March 23, 2011, 05:56:06 PM »
I'm on a Mac and using dreamweaver cs5 to create my site. I want to create a database where people can enter something in for example: a barcode numbers and other information about those barcode numbers and when someone searches on my site those bar code numbers, the additional info they added along with the bar code numbers will come up

I wish I could help you with that. Personally I know little about databases, and how to create a custom one would be pretty hard. Another member here might have an idea or two though. Have you searched google for something like this. ???

Yes, the barcodes was just an example, I need to be able to have people enter in their VIN Numbers for their classic Mustang and if a previous owner or someone is trying to locate that vehicle, they can type in the VIN number and if someone has already entered it in to the database, it will bring up their contact and additional information of the current owner or previous owners who entered in information.

Ah ok, well I will give you what help I can but I am thinking this may have to be completely custom.

I would wait on the garage mod and see how things go with it. The upgrade for it for SMF 2.0 is not done yet I don't think. Here is the website for it:

http://www.smfgarage.com/

and the topic about it on SMF:

What information do you want to show up, I can make you a simple database.

Nesa I am confident of your abilities but I wonder where you are going to get the Data from. It would need to be by State, The OP I am assuming is Stateside! Getting Current ownership info as requested may be Difficult to say the least. there are a Limited number of states that have this type of info Public
I am checking on this !
