VIA HD Sound Drivers
« on: January 09, 2011, 03:43:21 PM »
I had no problem getting my Audigy soundblaster to work with lucid, however I now have unistalled the card and am back to using onboard sound (VIA HD). I cannot seem to find any drivers to work with lucid and get the sound working and I don't want to use the card till I rebuild again with a better sound and video card as well as the new psu I have sitting here. Anyone know about onboard devices and ubuntu?

Your sound card uses a ALC887 chip Linux has drivers for realtec.
You should have alsaconfig that can detect if the drivers are installed and will load them for you, you need to run the script as root or super user sudo in Ubuntu.
