As requested by someone I know here is the guide to put Ubuntu aside of Windows.
It is recommended that you print this guide, as you will not be able to access the internet at all times.! If you royally f*ck up your system by not reading this note, no support will be given. !NOTE: This guide is optimized for Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.10. Anything lower or higher then that
MAY NOT WORK.
1.
First, lets partition your HDD into two pieces. It's like cutting cake (yummy, cake!).WARNING!!!! Do
by all means NOT install more then 3 OS' at the same time. The fourth partition will be made in a different way then the previous three (non-primary) and as such I don't know the consequences of installing a fourth OS. If you wanna mess up your system, go ahead and try it.
2. (when you purchase an Ubuntu CD, skip steps 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)
In your Windows environment, grab an Ubuntu ISO at
http://www.ubuntu.com/ . Save it somewhere you like.
3. You need a blank CD. CD-R will do.
4. Download
IMGBurn and install it.
5. Open IMGBurn and choose the "Burn ISO" option.
6. Select the Ubuntu ISO by clicking on the little file icon.
7. Click "Burn". The name of the CD doesn't matter.
8. Once you get the CD or when it is burned, place it in your computer. Do NOT get it out if it's in already.
9. Reboot your system.
10. When a prompt saying "Press any key to boot from CD..." appears, press any key.
If it doesn't appear and you boot into Windows again, follow steps 11, 12 and 13.
(11. Reboot your system once more. Leave the CD in.)
(12. Once you get the screen of your motherboard, keep pressing either F12, F11 or F10. If that still gets you into Windows, read the instruction manual of your computer on how to get into the boot menu.)
(13. If you get a nice little black-blue-white-yellow-red screen, you are in. Select your CD-ROM drive.)
14. The Ubuntu installer will boot up. Choose "Install Ubuntu".
15. Follow the simple steps you will see, until you get to the HDD part.
16. Select the new partition you just made. It should show up as blank, while the other one(s) have not all space left.
17. Let Ubuntu install and have fun!
(if anything in this guide is wrong then point it out please so I can look into it

)
