win xp booting up

i have tried to boot up an asus ee pc 900 laptop and am getting the following error.

it related to vgaoem.fom file either being missing or corrupted. it requesting me to repair file by starting windows setup w original setup cdrom. can any winxp work? or any can be used? how to i repair it wout original setup cdrom?

It must be the same version of xp you are running but it should work.

now i need to find an external cd rom and repair the file. but i hope it will recognize the cdrom.
