Introduction
Simple Machines, SMF   in short is a message board forum system that is easy to use, install,   and customize at any time. With the package manager, you can install   customizations in under 30 seconds.

Downloading SMF
You will need to download the forum softwares latest version at this page. It is recommended to choose the latest version and not using any beta software on your live/public website.
Transferring the files to your website
Extract the software file you have just downloaded. Then using an FTP program or in CPanel upload the contents to /public_html/ or a folder inside /public_html/.
Once   the contents are uploaded, go to the place you uploaded SMF to. If you   uploaded the contents to /public_html/ go to www.yoursite.com; If you uploaded the contents to /public_html/Folder/ go to www.yoursite.com/folder.
If   the contents were uploaded correctly, you should see a install   page.
Databases (mysql)
Create a database and username with the tutorial located here.
Virtual Installation
Go   back to the installation screen and fill out the form with your details   and your preferences. Enter the mysql database you created in the   correct place. Localhost is a fine connection for it unless you're using   a host such as Godaddy.
Create   an admin account and when it comes time to delete the setup file(s),   check the box and it should delete it for you. If it doesn't delete it   for you, delete the file(s) it tells you to   delete.
Installation Complete!
Congratulations!   Your SMF should now be installed. If you have problems installing it   any further, you may post a topic in the thread named Support for   hosting. (note, you must use SMFH Hosting to post there) If you aren't   using our host and you need help, we'll be happy to help you in the   General Support section here for   SMF.
For   additional support with SMF, visit the support forums located at http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php.
Enjoy SMF! :)
