Basic cell phone
« on: July 13, 2010, 04:53:20 AM »
I recently acquired a mobile phone which actually allows me to phone and text and nothing else!
It has no camera, no internet, no bluetooth, no GPS and does not offer to do my weekly washing...
It does have a calendar, clock, calculator and a converter but that's it.
The menu's are logical and easy to follow...
The ring tone volume is loud which is great as I am going slightly deaf in my old age..lol..and the on screen time is big enough to see without glasses (Deep joy)..
It is exactly what I want in a cell phone and at 19 Euros it's cheap too..
It is a Samsung E1150, a great little phone if you want simplicity...

Been looking for a phone that acts like a phone and not a robot or something stupid. Thanks for the tip. :) IMHO a phone is a phone, and should be nothing more. You wanna text, get the telegraph or a typewriter, lol.

I have a Nokia 6021.
It has sms, mms, and a wep browser, it also has better reception then a IPhone or any of the new phones.

I don't see why they can't put more effort into reception. That's what mobile phones need. Mine is not bad, and I have all the features (Not turned on(pay as ya go)) but why not try making the phone itself work better...I mean isn't that what it is. I have browser on mine and send a pic and texting but i never use much of it.

^ agreed with you a lot bigguy.  I wish more development time went into making phones tougher, with better battery, etc - "more useful" imo instead of a lot of the dumb things that are added to them.  But maybe that's cheap and what makes the $$.

While I do use the internet, texts, and the camera a lot of my phone, I can really appreciate those old Samsungs and Nokias that were built like rocks.  Great battery time, don't really have to worry about dropping it or replacing it if you do break it and that's about it.

It would be nice to be able to make a phone that was just that...a mobile phone, rock solid, good reception and great battery life. those are the key elements if you ask me.

They concentrate on features more now then the, reception and audio quality.

And that's a big downfall right there. concentrate on making a good phone first.
