The desk top I have can't even handle IE8, so I know I can't use this one!  ::)

Surely another folly from Microdaft....IE9 is probably a collection of all the previous IE patches and fixes rolled into one package..lol..and no doubt the Microdaft team will have changed the interface (again) so that users will have to relearn how to operate it....
Ok so I'm biased but then who wouldn't be when there is a choice of many other browsers which actually do what it says on the box...

From what I hear it's fast. When I install it I will have a review to post. If someone has it installed now and wants to write a review, please feel free to do so. :)

I installed the beta on my netbook...and then I promptly uninstalled it.  :D
My guess is maybe it is not compatible with win7 starter because it would not run whatsoever. In fact I had to force it closed with taskmanager because it kept crapping out and trying to send error reports to microsoft in some kind of mad loop of crapping out sending error report then restarting on it`s own then crapping out again, lol so I guess maybe i`m not altogether impressed with it.

I see, that sort of sucks eh. I haven't had a lot of time lately to do anything. I will get it installed maybe tonight and see what goes on. Does it upgrade the IE I have now. ???

yup. but if it does not work just uninstall the update from control panel and all will be returned to normal. I didn`t have any other browser installed when I updated to IE9 so I was kinda pooched for a bit.

Small quote from Betanews:

Quote
If Microsoft wants to build market share for its latest version of   its Internet Explorer browser, that may be all but impossible. The   company has decided to make IE9 incompatible with Windows XP, as it   lacks the necessary technologies to power the new browser.According   to research firm NetApplications, nearly 61 percent of all computers   run Windows XP as of August. Windows Vista and Windows 7, both IE9   compatible, make up about 30 percent. In other words, seven in 10 PCs   are incompatible right out of the box, a major problem for Microsoft.

Posting this from IE 9 Beta x64 version. I have to say that it is fast but I think that is more due to it being 64 bit and not 32 bit. It looks nice and sleek but for now that is all I have to say. I will try it out for a bit tonight and post back.
EDIT: I guess this leaves a lot of smaller games out and such:

It does not render text and images right on some sites.

EDIT: One thing I like is the developer tools built in. That's nice.
