Site hosting Qs
« on: December 08, 2010, 05:11:57 AM »
Hi BigGuy,

I am thinking about building a small site for the Psychology Society I am a part of at the uni I go to. I have a couple questions though.

1. could the owners name be easily changed?
  - when I no longer am here it would need to be setup so that others could manage the site. Can this be done easily?

2. domain name ordering?
 - because this would be a site for a uni society and would need to be transferable easily, do you handle domain names or can you suggest one?

3. Size, because we all know how much that counts  ::)
 - I do not think it needs to be too huge at first, but who knows. I am thinking just going with smf, a portal and small arcade, maybe 50 games. There may be 80 members, depending how many actually join the society, as it is just starting.

4. I still have to hear back from the uni rep to see if outside websites are allowed. I hope so because their 'minisite' setup is ... well crap.

Thanks

1.) Yes I don't see a problem with moving someone else in there for ownership as long as we know it is happening.

2.) We do not register domains as of yet. You would have to go to a registrar and buy a url that you can use here.

3.) All our plans are upgradeable, if you reach the pro plan then we can give you a custom plan to go off of.

4.) I hope you hear good things back. :)

For number two I highly suggest godaddy.com
I got a .com for a year for only $12

I usually get mine for a bit cheaper and I stay as far away from Godaddy as I can.
