Folder Options
« on: June 03, 2010, 05:05:30 PM »
I don't know if anyone has had the same annoying little problem I had:  Although the option was selected to open windows in same window, ( Folders Options)   it simply didn't play ball, I could if I let it,  end up with a darn great row of open windows in Windows Explorer.    I did some hunting around and found a little batch file to correct the problem.

Not only does he provide the solution he explains the problem, which is way way up there above my head.

and in case the link disappears, attached is the zip file of the batch script, have ran virus etc tests.  Just extract the file and click on it, make sure you have admin  rights

Hasn't happened to me yet but it's a great fix for those that need it for sure.

they mention that it probably occurs in vista as well but I don't seem to have this problem. I guess those registry entries don't conflict on every sytem  ???

Well tbh I can't say that made a great deal of difference, I still end up with a large amount of windows open when using windows explorer, despite having the folder options set to open in own in the same window.

At bit of a loss to to know what to do.    Still can't make up my mind if I like win7, might because I have been using XP since it first came out.

I heard that when people were used to 9x or 2k and trying out xp. I have been using win 7 since the first public beta and i used to to tech support for xp and win 7 defiantly more then a few steps up in functionality and stability then xp. Problem is XP is tried and true and has been for 9 years and no one forgets the vista problems so alot of people went back to xp because they knew it was old but reliable. But I like Win 7 it is a beautiful design and very stable had no issues with it as of yet, although i just moved over to kubuntu 10.4 to check that linux goodness out...lol

I really don't have any problems with vista as of yet...well other than it's an incredible resource hog and it cost more than 300 bucks just for the upgrade, but other than that i'm liking it.
