Try opening up iTunes.  Select "Burn Disk" on the bottom.  I've had a CD stuck in my Mini before and when I did this, the Mini spit the CD out.  Then just cancel the burn. 

Not sure if it'll work in your case, but it did the trick for me.  This is one thing I don't like and a recurring problem I've seen with Macs throughout the past few years.

Hi Cholo, no luck! When I clicked "Burn Disc", it says "No supported Disc burners found". Nevertheless, when I clicked "Burn", another message says "Disc burner or software not found."

Strange errors - what model Macbook do you have?  And what version OS are you using?

It is a MacBook 5.1, running on Max OSX 10.5.8

It did not work for me. I could hear the DVD spinning in the drive but it won't eject when I hit the Eject button.

I had that happen before but I was able to restart and eject the file.  Do you have the latest firmware update?  If so or not try re-installing the firmware.

Hi butchas, I downloaded MacBook EFI Firmware Update 1.4. But when I tried to run it,  a message pops up and it says "Alert. This computer does not need this update."

The  firmware  list did not have my model MacBook 5.1.

Another trick is to turn the computer on with no extensions and see if the drive appears.  Sometimes the procedure needs to be repeated.  Sometimes a good long wait with no power/ battery is good.

If it all does not work I think it is a CD drive issue where the computer no longer is noticing the CD drive.  I think there may be a problem with the firmware since you mentioned trying to update it.  Call apple tell them your problem and ask them how to replace it?

Here is something else. Most people do not realize that when they turn off their computer and unplug it (even without the onboard battery) there is still a charge left in the board and components. Unplug the laptop, take the battery out and try to turn it on. Most times when you do this to a desktop computer the power light will flash briefly. The reason this is is it is draining any charge it has left on the board or in the components. Then, put the battery back in, plug it in and turn it on. I'm not saying this will make a big difference as I have only tested this on desktop computers but sometimes it will recognize things it did not before....like firmware updates and new hardware.

I had tried everything that is listed.

Disconnecting the power supply and battery gave the same result.
