662MX
« on: April 02, 2010, 09:29:41 PM »
Today I was down the street from my place getting some building supplies for free from a house that is being torn down. I guess the owners of the place left it so much of what was there was going for free. One of the workers there knows me well and found a brand new motherboard and asked if I wanted it. Here are the specs. I will be building this and posting about it here:

  • Compatible Processors  Celeron D , Core 2   Duo , Pentium D , Pentium
  • 64-bit Processor Compatibility    Yes
  • Mainboard processor socket  LGA775 Socket
  • Mainboard / Multi-Core Support    Dual-Core
  • Chipset Type  SiS662 / SiS966L
  • Supported RAM Technology  DDR2   SDRAM (PC2-3200 , PC2-5300 , PC2-4300)
  • PCI-E 16x
I figure it's worth it to check it out and see if it works. What do you guys think.

here's more on it:

Why certainly. I will be posting pics. I would like a bit of help to from the community in the components I should buy. I see the board can handle a few different cpu's. I am going to stay away from 64bit cause I have a box for that right now.

That looks like some awesome choices for cpu's. :) Wonder how cheap I can get a dual core.

EDIT: The top two on there look good.

Yes that's not bad at all. Might be a bit out of my price range though.

I think I can find it cheaper as well. :)

Edited first post to include the processor link.

Just looking at graphics cards at Tiger Direct here and they seem very cheap there so all together I think so far I would have to spend about 250 bucks. That's not to bad. :)
