Switched to Xubuntu
« on: February 10, 2010, 05:28:05 PM »
So I switched over to Xubuntu on my desktop, It was a tough decision as I truly love Debian, but there are trade-offs, If you stick with Debian Stable, your software is out of date, but if you run testing, you get newer software, but serious instability sometimes.  After my latest run of a few days without X, I finally bit the bullet and installed the Karmic version of Xubuntu.  Xubuntu is a standard Ubuntu release, but uses XFCE as it's desktop.  It's fast, simple, and more customizable than Gnome.

If you are looking for a nice fast desktop, Xubuntu can fill the need, and it works on older hardware than stock Ubuntu

I had tried out ubuntu years ago. Maybe it's time I checked it out again. Not sure if I would want to multi-boot it though. I will probably check it out soon though. Do they still mail you cd's if you want. ??? That's how I had ubuntu last time.
