Code: [Select]
takeown /f "PATH_TO_FILE"

You have to have administrative privileges and run as administrator :)

Win 7 is very possessive, it doesn't like the user, you, looking into most of the folders on your hard drive..It guards them jealously and you have to beg, even supplicate to be able to view the contents or delete a folder...
To TAKE OWNERSHIP means that YOU and not WIN 7 own the right to look in those folders..
It means that you don't get the "ACESS DENIED" popup...
It means that you can give Win 7 the finger....

Just be careful with the takeown command because you can do very drastic things to your system should you take ownership of a file and then cacls the file and then del it. Something you don't wanna do to a SYS file :o :no

You can check your account type in Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Accounts. It should say Administrator under your name. If not, then the administrator of your computer can change the account type for you to Administrator.
